CRIS TRAINING CLASSES AND GOVERNMENT CLOSURE DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY

CRIS classes will be canceled if the Federal Government is closed due to inclement weather.

Note that the CRIS training instructors will be cancelling the affected class in the HHS LMS (Learning Management System) and an automated email notification of the cancellation will be sent to affected registered students.

TIPS FOR REGISTERING FOR CRIS CLASSES

Need help with registering for a CRIS class? Follow the below steps for class registration.

NOTE: The Introduction to CRIS module is a pre-requisite for any additional CRIS classes.

1. Registering yourself (if you are active in HHS Learning Portal)
    
   1. Determine which class(s) (based on your role) you need by reviewing CRIS Course Registration - Required Training (39 KB)
   2. Visit http://training.cit.nih.gov/; select the course(s) and date of course you desire
   3. Continue on this site to register yourself through LMS
   4. If you encounter problems or need assistance: email CC CRIS Class Registration Team at CCCRISClassRegistrationTeam@cc.nih.gov for assistance
       
2. Registering another individual: (i.e. you are the supervisor or designee)
    
   1. Determine which class(s) the individual needs based on role: CRIS Course Registration - Required Training (26 KB)
   2. Visit http://training.cit.nih.gov/; identify the course(s) and date of course(s)
   3. Email CC CRIS Class Registration Team at CCCRISClassRegistrationTeam@cc.nih.gov for assistance and include the following required information:
      1. Name and email address of the individual to be enrolled
      2. Name, date, and time of the class(s) requested

SECURE HEALTH MESSAGING

Secure Health Messaging (SHM) is now available. It is a method of electronic communication between providers who have CRIS accounts and SHM privileges. Messages can be composed, replied to, and forwarded. Electronic messages managed through SHM can be attached to patients' electronic medical records and viewed within CRIS. When attached to a patient record, these messages become a permanent part of the medical record (CRIS). SHM can be accessed from within CRIS and also from any web browser (https://shm.cc.nih.gov). CLINICAL CENTER GENOMICS OPPORTUNITY (CCGO) PROTOCOLS ORDERING AND VIEWING EXOME SECONDARY FINDINGS ANALYSIS

The CCGO is a two year initiative which encourages NIH Institutes to jumpstart genomic medicine by increasing the use of genomic data in clinical research. See the following for information about order entry and viewing the Exome Secondary Findings Analysis (419 KB).

DEPLOYMENT OF STANDARD CLINICAL DESKTOPS (SCDS)

The SCDs which are workstations in Inpatient and Outpatient areas use for CRIS has been upgraded to Win 7 w/ 64 bit. It may be necessary to change the resolution of the screen. Refer to the following instructions (113 KB).

CLINICAL CENTER DESKTOP UPGRADE

You will notice a new look and feel to the Clinical Center Desktop in CC Casper Citrix Access https://cccasper.cc.nih.gov.

Improvements you will see:

• The new desktop provides you with the latest versions of Microsoft Office 2010, Adobe Reader 11 and Adobe Professional 11.
• Locating applications has been made easier (new icons added and those not in use removed).
• Log in speed is improved.

There are two things that we would like to make you aware of that may need your attention:

• For those that have mail personal store (PST) folders in Microsoft (MS) Outlook, you will need to add them back the first time you launch the updated Clinical Center Desktop. This is because personal folders are not part of your MS Outlook mailbox. See attached document for steps on how to add PST folders to you MS Outlook.
• For those that use email auto signature in Citrix Outlook, you will need to recreate your signatures for messages. Select Options >> Mail >> Signatures and complete the necessary information.

PROCESS TO RETRIEVE OPERATING ROOM SCHEDULE

The Department of Perioperative Medicine is pleased to announce that beginning July 29, 2013 users will be able to retrieve the Operating Room schedules using the CRIS system.

WINDOWS LOGIN REQUIREMENT

The NIH Clinical Center (CC) is requiring a PIV card/HHS ID Badge to log onto a government workstation. This requirement is specific to Windows and is based on the Federal mandate for HSPD-12 Logical Access.

Please note:
Computers in CC conference rooms, SCDs, WOWs, identified Windows workstation with multiple users, kiosks, CRIS training room and Mac workstations will not be required at this time, to use a PIV card/HHS ID Badge.

The Department of Clinical Research Informatics offers an Advanced CRIS TRAINING class.This class is designed for current CRIS users and will cover in-depth concepts that build upon skills and knowledge learned in the basic CRIS training classes.

BTRIS

The Biomedical Translational Research Information System (BTRIS) is a resource available to the NIH intramural community that brings together clinical research data from Clinical Center systems (CRIS) and other NIH Institutes and Centers. BTRIS provides clinical investigators with access to identifiable data for subjects on their own active protocols, while providing all NIH investigators with access to de-identified data across all protocols.
