What is the purpose of the study?
To assess differences in stress, health, and social stability among current and former drug users and non-drug users.

Who can participate in the study?
This study is accepting men and women who:

  • Are 18 to 75 years of age
  • Live in Baltimore city or a surrounding county

What will participants be asked to do?
The study includes 2 study visits of about 6 hours each. The visits are 1 year apart.

Participants will:

  • Complete questionnaires on paper and on a computer
  • Have blood drawn
  • Give a urine sample

Between the 2 study visits, participants are asked to complete a questionnaire every two months over the phone. Each call lasts approximately 10 minutes.

Where is the study taking place?
The NIDA Intramural Research Program is located on the Johns Hopkins Bayview campus in east Baltimore.

How much does it cost?
There is no cost for participation.

Will I receive payment of some kind?
All study participants will receive money for their participation in this study.
