كان يطلق على غور الصافي زُغر في القرن التاسع ميلادي وكانت مركزا رئيسيا لإنتاج السكر حيث قام علماء العرب قديما بجمع دراساتهم وبحوثهم حول إنتاج السكر من خلال دمج ...العلم اليوناني مع العملية المتبعة في الهند لإنتاج السكر من خلال قصب السكر، هذه الأبحاث تشير إلى أن مصنع السكر كان فعالا منذ القرن الثامن ميلادي.
يعمل مشروع استدامة الأرث الثقافي بمشاركة المجتمعات المحلية الممول من الوكالة الأمريكية للتنمية الدولية في الأردن مع المجتمع المحلي لمنطقة غور الصافي على تهيئة آثار مصنع السكر لتصبح موقعا يستقطب السياحة في الأردن.
هل هنالك طرق أخرى يمكن من خلالها دمج المجتمع المحلي في الحفاظ على الآثار والعمل على تسويق الأماكن الأثرية؟
The Ghor Al Safi region used to be called Zughar as far back as the 9th century CE, and was a major hub for sugar and indigo production. Arab scholars combined their study of ancient Greek science with their knowledge of processing Indian sugar cane to establish Ghor Al Safi’s sugar factory. Research suggests the factory was active as far back as the 8th century!
SCHEP is working with the local community to restore and preserve the Ghor Al Safi sugar factory to ensure the region’s ancient heritage continues into the future. How else can we help local communities preserve and promote their cultural heritage sites?
