How to use OGC Web Map Services (WMS) in ArcGIS Desktop

Copy the base WMS URL (up to and including ) from the mrdata.usgs.gov website:

Open ArcCatalog and:
  1. Double-click "Add WMS Server".
  2. Paste in the base WMS URL.
  3. Click "Get Layers". You will see a list of all the available layers:

  4. Click OK.
You can now drill down to view the layers or add them to an ArcMap session.
