State Government Suggestion Award Board (SGSAB)

Any Illinois resident may submit money-saving suggestions to the State Government Suggestion Award Board. Illinois residents can win between $50 and $5,000 for a successful suggestion.

Each suggestion is assigned a reference number, presented to the board, and if appropriate, forwarded to relevant state agencies to determine if it is feasible, original, and cost-saving.

If an agency certifies that a suggestion is feasible, the SGSAB will consider its eligibility for an award. Each award is paid based on the savings it generates.

    State Surplus Public Auctions (iBid)

Often called "the eBay® of Illinois," iBid is the State's online auction website. The iBid web site allows users to browse and bid for items currently available for sale at public auction. Auctions are held weekly and interested bidders can find vehicles, office furniture, electronics, machine shop equipment... and much more each week!

Cities and other local governments in Illinois can apply to become a “Seller” of local government surplus and use the State's surplus property online auction website to dispose of their unneeded equipment.
