Issa Votes to Protect Rights of Gun Owners

Washington, DC – Congressman Darrell Issa today issued the following statement on the National Capital Security and Safety Act which, once enacted, will strike down unconstitutional firearm restrictions:

“Mr. Speaker, I am pleased that the House of Representatives has voted to hold the District of Columbia accountable for violating the civil rights of D.C. residents for decades.  Making the District adhere to the Constitution now is better than waiting 180 days.  Once the District comes into compliance with the Supreme Court decision, D.C. residents will finally be able to defend themselves against armed criminals.  The District’s anti-gun law created a bastion for crime.  Our action here today puts D.C. residents first and criminals second.”
