The Communications Division (RC) Mission

The Communications Division conducts research and development of advanced aeronautics and space communication concepts, architectures, components, and systems. The technology developments enable new capabilities for high data rate links and advanced protocols to interconnect satellites at geosynchronous, medium or low earth orbit and other satellites, aircraft, or ground terminals. Research and development in communications components and devices are addressed in three branches, a fourth branch focuses on networking technologies relating to the interoperability/ interconnectivity of earth-to-space and space-to-space links, and the fifth branch conducts communications system performance analysis, simulation, and research. The technology program is focused on research and development that directly addresses the aeronautical and space-based communication requirements of the NASA Missions.
