December 31 Fiddlin' Foresters complete successful Centennial Tour - My Impressions.   By Lynn Young (.pdf 139kb) As the 2005 Centennial Year comes to a close, so does the year-long Centennial Tour of the Fiddlin' Foresters.  The fantastic year included so many highlights and wonderful adventures, and the Fiddlin' Foresters were able to enhance the 100 year milestone for the U.S. Forest Service.

 

October 15 Stanislaus National Forest celebrates Centennial (.pdf 338kb) "Celebrate Your National Forests: The First 100 Years," was the name of the huge Centennial Celebration planned by the Stanislaus National Forest in Sonora, CA..  Art exhibits, a film festival, food, children's activities, live music and displays about national forests were featured.

October 8 - Roots of forestry grow in Western North Carolina (.pdf 190kb) Asheville, North Carolina – The Bent Creek Experimental Forest and the Southern Research Station sponsored a wonderful celebration the grounds the historic experimental forest near Asheville.

 

October 4 - Foresters kick off Campaign (.pdf 149kb) The Fiddlin' Foresters were honored to be asked to kick off the Combined Federal Champaign (CFC) for the U.S. Department of Agriculture at their headquarters in Washington DC.  The CFC is the charitable fund-raising program of the Federal Government.  CFC in the National Capitol Area raises millions of dollars for all kinds of charities.  This year there was a special emphasis on victims of Hurricane Katrina.

 

September 8 - Retirees celebrate the people of the Forest Service (.pdf 190kb) Over 1100 Forest Service retirees attended the Centennial Celebration Reunion in Portland, Oregon September 4 – 9.  The Forest Service National Leadership team, the Office of Communication, and the New Century of Service committee had concurrent meetings and joined the retirees for a Fiddlin’ Foresters performance at a huge banquet on Thursday evening.

September 7 - Forest Service fiddles at Timberline (.pdf 122kb) The great Timberline Lodge perched at timberline on Mount Hood was the site of a wonderful Forest Service Centennial Celebration on Wednesday, September 7.  The Fiddlin’ Foresters performed a Centennial program for about 150 Mount Hood National Forest employees, retirees and lodge guests..
