The United States Attorney's Office has an interest in
legislation that affects the criminal justice system and
public safety in the District of Columbia. We both propose
legislation to the Council of the District of Columbia,
and comment on legislation proposed by others. It is important
for the Committee on the Judiciary -- which handles most
of the criminal justice legislation -- to hear from members
of the community on pending bills. This can be done by
testifying in person or by submitting written statements
to the Committee on the Judiciary. Members of the community
can also contact individual Council members to register
their views.
