Academic Programs in Acquisition

Individuals who are interested in entering the acquisition field could pursue studies at the college or university level. Many higher education institutions offer academic programs and courses related to the acquisition field. For institutions in your area, search their course catalogs for acquisition, contracting, procurement, or purchasing courses.

To enter the acquisition field at the professional level in the Federal Government, an individual must have either a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution OR 24 college level credit hours in one or more of these areas:

Accounting
Industrial Management
Quantitative Methods
Business
Law
Contracts
Marketing
Economics
Purchasing
Finance
Organization and Management

A higher education degree is NOT necessary to enter the acquisition field in the Federal Government, however, a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution AND 24 college level credit hours in the fields above ARE required in order to advance to senior levels.
