Rick Archibald

Richard K. Archibald is a staff scientist in the Computational Mathematics group at ORNL. He held the Alston S. Householder Fellowship in Scientific Computing from 2005 until his staff appointment in 2007. Archibald received both his BS in physics and his MS in mathematics from the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada in 1996 and 1998, respectively. He obtained his PhD in mathematics from the University of Alberta-Edmonton in 2002.

Ed D'Azevedo

Ed D'Azevedo

Ed D'Azevedo is a staff scientist in the Computational Mathematics Group at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. He obtained his B. Math in 1983, M. Math in 1985, and PhD. in 1989 all from the Department of Computer Science in the Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. D'Azevedo's current research interests include developing highly scalable parallel solvers that can take advantage of acceleration on Graphics Processor Unit and in enhancing the parallel efficiency of scientific applications running on leadership supercomputers. D'Azevedo has contributed to several projects in materials science and fusion in the Scientific Discovery through Advanced Computing (SciDAC) program. He has developed the on out-of-core and compact storage extensions for the ScaLAPACK library and has made fundamental contributions in optimal mesh generation.

 

 

Cory Hauck

Cory Hauck

Cory Hauck has a Ph.D in applied mathematics from the University of Maryland. Dr. Hauck is interested in computational aspects of kinetic theory and hyperbolic balance laws, including moment methods, asymptotic analysis, and numerical schemes for multi-scale problems.

 

 

 

 

 

 


Pablo Seleson

Pablo Seleson

Pablo Seleson is currently the Alston S. Householder Fellow in the Computational and Applied Mathematics Group of the Computer Science and Mathematics Division. Dr. Seleson received both his Bachelor's degree in Physics and in Philosophy and his Master's degree in Physics from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 2002 and 2006, respectively. He obtained his Ph.D. in Computational Science from Florida State University in 2010, under the advisement of Prof. Max Gunzburger. After graduation, he joined the Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences (ICES) at The University of Texas at Austin as an ICES Postdoctoral Fellow under the supervision of Prof. J. Tinsley Oden, where he also worked in close collaboration with the Computer Science Research Institute at Sandia National Laboratories. Dr. Seleson's research focuses on multiscale material modeling and in mathematical and computational analysis of peridynamics and related nonlocal models.​

 


Clayton Webster

Clayton Webster

Clayton Webster is a Senior Mathematician and Group Leader, in the Computational and Applied Mathematics Group at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. He is also jointly appointed as a Professor in the Department of Mathematics and the Bredesen Interdisciplinary Center at the University of Tennessee.

Previously, Dr. Webster was the Director of Quantitative Trading at NextEra Energy Resources, Power Trading LLC. Before that, he was awarded the John von Neumann Fellowship by the Department of Energy at Sandia National Laboratories.

He received his Ph.D. in Mathematics from Florida State University in 2007. He also earned a M.Sc. and B.Sc. from McMaster University in 2003 and 2001 respectively.

Clayton and his collaborators have published several of the most cited numerical analysis papers in the field of uncertainty quantification. His worked has earned him numerous accolades, and most recently he was appointed as a Kavli Frontiers of Science Fellow, by the National Academy of Sciences. Dr. Webster's research is supported by a variety of organizations, including the: US Department of Energy, US Department of Defense, National Science Foundational, and several US corporations. Clayton currently serves on several national and international conference organizing committees and is currently an editor for the: SIAM Journal on Numerical, SIAM Journal for Uncertainty Quantification, International Journal for Uncertainty Quantification, and International Journal for Computer Mathematics.

Guannan Zhang

Guannan Zhang

Guannan Zhang is a staff scientist in Computer Science and Mathematics Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). Dr. Zhang received his Bachelor's degree and Master's degree in mathematics from Shandong University in 2007 and 2010, respectively. He earned his Ph.D. in computational science at Florida State University in 2012. After graduation, he joined the Computational and Applied Mathematics Group at ORNL as a staff scientist in 2012. His research is focused on mathematical foundations of numerical methods for stochastic differential equations, high-dimensional approximation, uncertainty quantification and related applications.
