Knowledge Map

Knowledge mapping is a useful exercise to depict repositories of knowledge within major JPL knowledge domains and relationships between them. A preliminary knowledge map is provided below for illustration. The objective is to depict areas where knowledge is being managed effectively (green highlight) and those areas that need work (yellow highlight), so that knowledge management gaps may be identified and addressed. Maturing of this preliminary map will result from the JPL KM process that will (1) identify and prioritize JPL-critical knowledge, (2) identify gaps in retention and sharing, and (3) implement remedial measures and practices.
