CNA students at Job Corps

Academics

In addition to career training, San Jose Job Corps also provides academic training, including basic reading and math. Courses in independent living, employability skills, and social skills are offered in order to help students transition into the workplace. We also have several academic programs to help our students achieve their full potential.

HSE/High School Diploma

One of our top goals at San Jose Job Corps is to ensure that every qualified student obtains his or her HSE (High School Equivalency)/high school diploma prior to leaving the center. Students who don't already have a high school diploma upon their arrival at the San Jose Job Corps center can enroll in our HSE program. Students in the HSE program are taught by Job Corps instructors, This program prepares students for the HSE test administered by test centers under the umbrella of the Santa Clara County Office of Education.

Students may also enroll in charter high school classes taught by the School for Integrated Academics and Technologies (SIATech), New Learning Resources Online (NLRO). These high schools award diplomas to students who meet the standards of competency set by the State of California.

ELL Program

Students needing to learn English can enter our English Language Learning (ELL) program. Students in the ELL program are tested regularly with the California Adult Student Assessment System (CASAS) test to determine their language proficiency levels.

Driver's Education

Driver's Education is available to all students needing their driver's license.
