Diabetes Webinar Series

The EPICC Program offers a FREE monthly continuing diabetes education series for professionals on the third Wednesday of each month from Noon to 1pm. Participation is available through GoToTraining. The purpose of the series is to keep healthcare professionals up to date on the latest information in diabetes care and education.

Diabetes Care for the Uninsured Patient
Sharon Korhel, FNP-C, CDE, BC-ADM

Sharon Korhel is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner employed by Intermountain Health care, Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE), and is Board Certified in Advanced Diabetes Management.

  Sharon currently works at the Rose Park Clinic and provides care for uninsured and underinsured patients of all ages.   Many of the patients at the clinic have diabetes and the clinic provides diabetes care, diabetes education and prediabetes education. 

 Sharon also works at the American Fork Internal Medicine and Diabetes Management clinic.  She was previously employed at the Utah Valley Medical Center Diabetes Management Clinic, providing diabetes care and primary care.

Sharon is on the AADE (American Association of Diabetes Educators) of UTAH board and is currently the Advocacy Volunteer. She held the position of the Chair of the AADE, UTAH in 2014.

Continuing Education

Continuing education units are available for nurses (1.5 hours), dietitians (1 hour), Pharmacists (1 hour) and a general certificate of participation (1 hour) can be provided for all other groups (e.g. CHES).

Registered Nurses

The Utah Department of Health is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the Utah Nurses Association/Western Multi-State Division. This educational program will provide 1.5 contact hours of continuing education credit. Provider code P14-03. RN's must take the pre-test and the post-test, receiving 80% or greater on the post test to receive a certificate.

Registered Dietitians 

The Utah Department of Health is a Continuing Professional Education Accredited Provider with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). Registered dietitians (RDs) can receive 1.0 continuing professional education units for completion of this program. Continuing Professional Education Provider Accreditation does not constitute endorsement by CDR of a provider, program, or materials.

Registered Pharmacists 

The Utah Pharmacists Association is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. This program provides 1.0 contact hours of continuing education credit.(0.1CEU's)
