Tours / Access Muon g-2

Tours Information

Tours of the Muon g-2 experiment are by arrangement only, and must be arranged in advance through a Fermilab employee or visitor who has completed the
MC-1 Hazard Awareness Training
. In general, these people are the scientists who are members of the experiment, or are from the Lab's Communications Office, and function as your tour Escort. If you happen to know a member of the experiment, then you can approach them about arranging a tour. If not, you can request a tour through the Fermilab Education Office.

Tours must be cleared with the MC-1 Coordinator, to be sure they do not overlap with power outages, or other potentially hazardous conditions (such as magnetic field, complex crane operation, etc.). Decending from the catwalk requires closed-toed shoes, at least.

Access to MC-1 Bulding

Access to the MC-1 Building is controlled by ID card scanners. To get your ID card added to the access list you must complete the MC-1 Hazard Awareness Training (and it's pre-requisits), then contact Angela Aparicio.

Work

By definition, no work is performed by the tour escort(s) or by anyone in the tour group.

Trained persons needing to do work anywhere in the MC-1 building should contact the MC-1 Coordinator, and follow the guidelines on the Work Planning page.
