Center Life

A typical day at Pinellas County Job Corps is full of activities to help our students prepare for the real world. Students get up early and spend the majority of their day receiving academic and hands-on career technical training.

After class, students study or hang out with friends before dinner in the cafeteria. After dinner, students may do chores in their dorms or spend their downtime studying. Students are in bed by 10:30 PM in order to rest for the next day's tasks.

Recreation

Pinellas County Job Corps boasts one of the best recreation programs in the nation. Students find our recreational activities to be a fun and exciting way to meet new friends, socialize, and just relax and unwind at the end of the day. We offer traditional sports and games such as basketball, soccer and softball.

We conduct regular surveys with our students to get their feedback about our recreational programs. Of course, students are always welcome to make their suggestions for new or existing activities to any member of our recreation staff.

Interior of the gym

We offer activities such as:

  • Arts and crafts
  • Theater and Drama
  • Chess club
  • Cultural and social events
  • Dances
  • Intramural sports
  • Movies and videos
  • Outdoor activities
  • Sporting events

We also sponsor weekend trips to bowling alleys, movie theaters, beaches, special events, sports, concerts, professional sports games, and other attractions located in the greater Tampa Bay area.

Student Government Association (SGA)

Through the Student Government Association (SGA), students learn about self-government and have the opportunity to provide input into center policies. The SGA meets regularly with the Center Director, and SGA officers serve on various committees related to policies affecting our students on and off campus.

Safety

Job Corps is committed to offering all students a safe and secure environment. That's why we have a Zero Tolerance Policy for violence and drugs. Any student who breaks this policy will be dismissed immediately from Job Corps.
