Welcome to your Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs (ADVA) Website! It is my honor as well as the honor and privledge of my fellow state employees at ADVA to assist all veterans and respective eligible family members.

Although we have some manpower and fiscal limitations, we are committed and will continue to provide quality service and strive for the sustainment of your well-earned federal and state veterans benefits. We will always strive to uphold President Abraham Lincoln’s promise “to care for him who shall have borne the battle and for his widow, and his orphan."

As a career naval officer and veteran, I fully comprehend that America owes its veterans a debt that it can never fully repay. But for those benefits and services that we have promised and sworn oaths on, we must make good on those promises and guarantees earned through honorable service rendered without question or hesitation in the face of tremendous hardship and great peril.

I ask for your help in getting the word out to veterans to seek their benefits and services whether it is Veterans Life Insurance, Veterans Home Loan Guarantees, Medical Care, Education Benefits, Disability Compensation or War Pensions. You can assist in this effort by telling fellow veterans to visit their local ADVA county offices and discuss their benefits with the Veteran Service Officers. I encourage you to take the time to check out our website for the various programs and services. Additionally, feel free to visit the federal VA website at www.va.gov for the complete spectrum of U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs benefits or programs.

The Veterans Crisis Hotline is available 24/7 at 1-(800)-273-8255 for veterans with a crisis regarding safety, health and wellbeing situations. Also, for those veterans and family members who are homeless, or are at risk of becoming homeless, they are encouraged to call the VA Homeless Veterans Hotline at 1-877 4AID-VETS (1(800)424-3838). For additional information regarding benefits and referral services for homeless veterans, the ADVA Homeless Veterans Coordinator can be reached at 334-242-5066

Finally, I would like to say thank you to all veterans for honorably serving this nation in uniform.
