Community Organizations and Schools
- Tomales History Center
- The Tomales History Center was founded in 1978 and covers the area of northwest Marin County and Southwest Sonoma County. The Center is located at the original Tomales High School. Displays and exhibits are open during weekends.
- Tomales Town Hall
- The Tomales Town Hall is one of the older community centers along the north coast of California. A variety of events are hosted by the Town Hall Board of Directors. The building is also available to rent for private gatherings.
- Tomales Elementary School
- This is one of the five schools in the Shoreline School District. The school covers Kindergarten through 8th grade.
- Tomales High School
- Tomales High School is the only 9-12 school in the Shoreline District and stretches from the Point Reyes Lighthouse to Bodega Bay.
- Tomales Presbyterian Church
- This Church and its peaceful cemetery sit atop a small hill at the end of Church Street in Tomales. Originally built in 1865, this church was soon consumed by fire. The present church was completed in 1868.
- Church of the Assumption of Mary, A Roman Catholic Church
- The church was built in 1860 and continues to serve the Catholic community in northwest Marin County. The cemetery is located a half mile or so west on the Dillon Beach Road.

Continental Inn
- Tomales Bakery
- Fresh, from scratch, and delicious! Everything is baked daily and in-house. Open Thursday through Sunday.
- Tomales Deli and Cafe
- Our local Cafe, open 7am through 6 pm. A great place for a salad or sandwich, coffee and ice cream to eat on the premises while surfing the net, or take with you on your journey.
- K&A; Take Away (around the corner from Diekmann's Store)
- Serving lunch and dinner. Amy's famous handmade sausages, sandwiches, salads and soups. Excellent take out. Closed Monday Thru Wednesday. 707-878-2969
- Diekmann's General Store
- Serving Tomales since 1867 this store, as well as basic supplies, features wine, local micro-brewed beer, locally produced cheeses, and camping supplies.
- William Tell House
- One of the oldest taverns located along the Marin Coast. The business is now owned by Marcos and Doris Pareas. The William Tell features a full bar and restaurant.
- Two Silos Mercantile
- Located above Diekmann's Store and owned by Kristin Lawson, the store sells a mixture antiques and second hand goods. Consignment options available. Hours are Thursday through Sunday, 10-5.
- The Continental Inn
- The historic hotel in Tomales, located in the heart of the town, easy access to Dillon Beach and nearby Tomales Bay.
- Stair Builders
- A locally owned company, they recently moved their shop to the historic Tomales Garage in town. They create custom made stairs and banisters.
- Mostly Natives Nursery
- This nursery provides native California and other drought tolerant plants for the Northern California gardener. Established in 1984, it's located on the corner of Highway 1 and 2nd Street.
- Dillon Beach Property Management
- This is a stopping point where you can get local information and rent a house in Dillon Beach.
