The “Justice Administrative Commission” is led by
two State Attorneys, appointed by the Florida Prosecuting Attorneys Association, and two Public
Defenders, appointed by the Florida Public Defender Association. The Commission meets regularly with
the Executive Director along with other JAC staff to provide guidance and direction on a
myriad of issues.
Honorable Brad King, State Attorney,
5th Judicial Circuit, currently serves as Chair of the Commission. Mr. King was appointed to the Commission
in 2008 and has been the Chair since 2013. Mr. King has served as State Attorney
since 1988. The 5th Judicial Circuit includes Citrus, Hernando, Lake, Marion, and Sumter counties.
Honorable Diamond R. Litty, Public Defender, 19th Judicial Circuit,
currently serves as Secretary of the Commission. Ms. Litty was appointed to the Commission in 1994
and has been the Secretary since 1995. Ms. Litty has served as Public Defender since 1992. The 19th
Judicial Circuit includes Indian River, Martin, Okeechobee, and St. Lucie counties.
Honorable Jerry Hill, State Attorney, 10th Judicial
Circuit, was appointed to the Commission in 1997. Mr. Hill has served as State Attorney since 1984.
The 10th Judicial Circuit includes Hardee, Highlands, and Polk counties.
Honorable Kathleen A. Smith, Public Defender, 20th Judicial Circuit,
was appointed to the Commission in 2015. Ms. Smith has served as Public Defender since 2008.
The 20th Judicial Circuit includes Charlotte, Collier, Hendry, Glades, and Lee counties.
