Prevention · Construction Plan Review

The Office of the State Fire Marshal is committed to working with local governments, private industry, and the general public to ensure the proper installation of fire protection systems.  We provide plan review and inspections of newly constructed public schools.  All plan review projects for fire and life safety are in accordance with the state adopted International Codes and state amendments as adopted by the State Building Code Council.

The Office of the State Fire Marshal has created the Plan Review Program to assist local fire jurisdictions in performing the following:

  • Pre-construction meetings with school project managers, architects, general contractors, and others;
  • Plan Review of Fire Protection Systems; including fire sprinkler, fire alarm, and kitchen hood systems;
  • Site Inspections of the complete project and the fire and life safety systems;
  • Acceptance testing of the fire and life safety systems.

These services are available upon request to any and all local jurisdictions that may not have the time, availability, or perhaps the resources to provide these functions.

Additional plan review services outside of public schools are available to local fire and building jurisdictions on a contractual basis – please contact our office to obtain additional information.
