The Iowa Department of Public Defense State Comptroller Office (SCO) is responsible for managing the following:

The SCO prepares the annual Department budget requests, gives guidance and direction on the Department's operating budget, and acts as Department liaison between the State Budget Office and the Iowa Legislature. Once the budget is enacted, the office provides guidance and direction on the budget for the Department. The office is also responsible for ensuring that the State's accounting books are complete at the end of each fiscal year.
