The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, or Recovery Act, signed into law on Feb. 17, 2009, provided funding across the nation to invest in the domestic renewable energy industry and the weatherizing of 75 percent of federal buildings as well as more than one million private homes around the country.
The Missouri Department of Natural Resources received $204,523,533 in Recovery Act funding to support the following Energize Missouri projects to improve energy efficiencies and renewable energy for Missouri. These projects include the following.
Enhancing State Government Energy Assurance Capabilities and Smart Grid Planning
The Missouri Department of Natural Resources used the Recovery Act funding to strengthen and expand state and local government energy assurance planning and resiliency efforts by incorporating response actions for new energy portfolios and Smart Grid applications, to build in-house state and local government energy assurance expertise, and as with all Recovery Act grants, to create jobs. The initiative focused on building regional energy assurance capability to allow states to better coordinate and communicate statewide and with one another on energy security, reliability and emergency response issues.
