Lieutenant Colonel Edgar G. Arroyo is a 1997 graduate of the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez Campus with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Upon graduation, he received his commission through Army ROTC as a second lieutenant in the Medical Service Corps.

Upon completion of the Army Medical Department (AMEDD) Officer Basic Course, he was assigned to the 18th Medical Command, Korea. There he served as the Evacuation Platoon Leader and Executive Officer for 560th Medical Company (GA). After returning from overseas, LTC Arroyo was assigned to the 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized), Fort Hood, Texas. He served as the Medical Platoon Leader for the 3-67th Armor Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team.

As a graduate of the Combined Logistics Captain’s Career Course, Arroyo was assigned to the 3rd Infantry Division (Mechanized), Fort Benning, Georgia. He served as company commander, Company C, 203rd Forward Support Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, where he deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom I and II. Arroyo then served as the Medical Plans and Operations Officer for the 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Bragg, North Carolina where he again deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom V and VI. Subsequently, he served as the S-3 for the 6th Medical Logistics Management Center, 44th Medical Command, Fort Detrick, Maryland. While stationed in Maryland he completed a Masters of Science in Healthcare Administration from the University of Maryland. Arroyo was then selected for the resident Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas where he completed Intermediate Level Education.

Following completion of CGSC, Arroyo was assigned to Joint Base Lewis McChord, Washington, where he served as the support operations officer and later executive officer, 56th Multifunctional Medical Battalion and deployed in support of Operation Unified Response - Haiti; S3, 62nd Medical Brigade where he deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom XIII. Most recently, Arroyo served as the Chief of Medical Operations for the United States Central Command at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida.

Arroyo’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star (two oak leaf clusters), the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (two oak leaf clusters), the Joint Service Commendation Medal (one oak leaf cluster), the Army Commendation Medal (three oak leaf clusters), the Army Achievement Medal (one oak leaf clusters), the Presidential Unit Citation, the Joint Meritorious Unit Award (one bronze oak leaf clusters), the Meritorious Unit Citation, the National Defense Service Medal (one bronze star device), the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (one bronze star device), the Afghanistan Campaign Medal (two bronze star devices), the Iraq Campaign Medal (two bronze star devices), the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Korea Defense Service Ribbon, the Armed Forces Service Ribbon, the Humanitarian Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon (bronze numeral 3), the NATO Medal, the Air Assault Badge, the Combat Medical Badge, the Expert Field Medical Badge, and the Senior Parachutist’s Badge, and the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge. He is also a 2014 recipient of the Order of Military Medical Merit.
