VAW-116 Sun Kings

VAW-116 Mission:

Our mission is to execute the Commander's Intent by providing on-scene, carrier airborne command and control of Joint and Combined Forces in the battlespace. We will fly full mission capable aircraft with tactically proficient aircrew eager to execute in the air from the sea.

Our Guiding Principles:

Safety is the foundation for every evolution we undertake- in the air, in the hangar, on the ship. Every Sailor, every day, on-duty and off-duty.

Professionalism as Sailors, professionalism in your rate, professionalism in your conduct. The Naval Service is a profession whether you just finished boot camp or have completed 20 years of service.

Integrity is at our core. It is doing the right thing when no one is watching. The demanding rigors of Naval Aviation require that individuals trust each other, often with our lives.

Respect for each other is paramount. Each of us comes from a different background and different experiences. Each of us has something of value to offer the Sun Kings.

Attitude is a choice. It is one of the few things you can choose each day. Attitude is infectious. A positive attitude can make the most daunting situation bearable.

Teamwork enables individuals to work together and achieve greatness. Common people attaining uncommon results. We each have our role in the squadron, but no individual can do it alone.
