Motorcycle Safety Program

Program Overview

The Georgia Motorcycle Safety Program (GMSP) offers rider education programs for every level of rider, promotes motorist awareness programs, share the road campaigns, and is focused on highway safety issues affecting Georgia motorcyclists. The GMSP directly operates 16 training sites and certifies 15 private sites. Rider training can be potentially life-saving. With proper training, new riders are less likely to be involved in a crash. Experienced riders can also benefit from additional training to hone their basic/crash-avoidance skills.

Rider Education

The GMSP provides essential and expanded core courses developed by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation as part of the GMSP Rider Education Program designed to develop a novice rider into an excellent rider.

Each course individually provides the knowledge, skill, attitudes and habits associated with quality riding. However, the full recommended core course track not only gives students a solid foundational start for a lifetime of safe riding, it extends training over a longer period of time for the most complete approach to personal development in risk management techniques. It is important to take riding safety seriously. Skills are perishable and need renewal and lifelong commitment. No matter what your riding experience is, there’s a course that’s right for you.

All GMSP courses are facilitate by Rider Coaches who have obtained national certification through the Motorcycle Safety Foundation, state certification through the Regulatory Compliance Division of the Georgia department of Driver Services and attend professional development updates to stay current on the latest curriculum developments and offerings.
