Craig H. Cugini
Craig H. Cugini assumed duties as the Deputy to the Garrison Commander, United States Army Garrison Fort Greely - Alaska, on 1 October 2015. He is responsible for directing, managing, and overseeing the delivery of base support services for a multi-mission installation of considerable size, scope and complexity. Inherent is the ability to oversee the delivery of services, examine program performance, plan and implement strategies that are fiscally sound to move the Fort Greely military community toward a future state.
A native of St. Clair Shores, Michigan, Mr. Cugini was born 30 April 1970. His combined federal service spans 21 years, beginning in 1994 when he entered Army basic training. His assignments included positions in Germany, Pennsylvania, Missouri, New Jersey, and New York.
Mr. Cugini's military service began as an enlisted Soldier as a Medical Laboratory Specialist (1994 - 2000). He served all of his active duty time in Landstuhl Germany. He exited active service in February 2000. In the spring of 2001 he was offered promotion to Staff Sergeant and also Acceptance into the Officer Candidate School (OCS) - Accelerated Program. He chose to go to OCS and in September 2001, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant. He completed his Engineer Officer Basic Course in May of 2002. In June of 2002, his Brigade was deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom to Heidelberg Germany in order to back-fill security positions vacated by V Corps (deployed to Iraq). He led his company in Force Protection missions covering 27 military kasernes in the community. Upon return from his deployment he was offered civilian employment back in Heidelberg which forced a change from the PAARNG to the Inactive Ready Reserve - Active Standby List and perform training (points only) in the Heidelberg community. Upon return to the United States, he worked to return to a drilling status in the Missouri Army National Guard (three months) before transitioning again to the New York Army National Guard (NYARNG). From 2008 to 2013 he served in the 204th Engineer Battalion. He completed his Company Command as the Headquarters Support Company Commander later performing assignments within the Battalion Operations section. Recently reassigned to the 42IN Division G5, he has been serving as the Engineer Planner. He remains in this Planner position while temporarily assigned to Fort Greely.

Mr. Cugini has also had a paralleling civilian service career which began in February 2000. Prior to his assignment at Fort Greely he served as the Director of Plans, Training, Mobilization & Security (DPTMS) at Picatinny Arsenal, NJ. His responsibilities as DPTMS include directly supervising, counseling and mentoring staff for Information Security, Operations Security, Personnel Security, Physical Security, Industrial Security, Antiterrorism/Force Protection (AT/FP), Emergency Management (EM) and Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive (CBRNE) protection. He managed six IMCOM service areas (600, 602, 603, 604, 702, 902). He has also served in the following positions: Antiterrorism Program Manager, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ; Security Manager at Lake City Army Ammunition Plant, Independence, MO; Force Protection Program Manager, Campbell Barracks, Heidelberg, GE; Force Protection Officer, 411th Base Support Battalion, Heidelberg, GE; Physical Scientist, Department of Labor, Pittsburgh, PA.
His civilian awards include: Achievement Medal for Civilian Service (2), Commander's Award for Civilian Service (3), Civilian Award for Humanitarian Service.
