This 10-module program of instruction provides a web-based course to the FAA workforce that describes the most salient concepts of human factors research and engineering. This easily accessible course presents generic information about the human factors research and engineering discipline to provide a basic understanding of human factors considerations and of the importance for considering the "human factor" in the design and development of complex operating systems. Segments of the course provide insight into key components of the human factors research and engineering discipline including those related to usability, visual displays, non-visual displays, controls, team performance, environment considerations, training, and cognition.
