Teen Civic Leadership Academy

Graphic for Youth EmpowermentKAAAC along with several community collaborative partners are gearing up to pilot a Teen Civic Leadership Academy in Topeka, that will focus on state government and becoming engaged in the process.

We are expanding our current day long "Youth Day" curriculum into a year long program that will allow leaders around our cities and state to promote leadership and empower youth to serve in their local communities. Participating youth will become involved in multiple learning experiences throughout the school year that leads up to a Day at the Capitol at the end of the Legislative Session. In doing so, they will not only be recognized for their local impact, they will also accomplish the tasks required for Congressional recognition.

In addition to the current program, we have added a few elements that we believe to be significant to the youth in Kansas:
  • The Effects of Bias Based Policing on Youth in Kansas
  • Effective Leadership
  • Our Kansas
  • KAAAC Youth Voice
  • Voluntary Public Service

We are surveying our youth to see what makes them tick so we can better serve them through this great program!  We need your feedback.
