LARE Exam Information

Beginning with the December 2015 LARE administration, the eligibility standard to sit for the exam will change requiring a candidate to either hold a LAAB-accredited landscape architectural degree or be approved by a Member Board. Candidates holding an accredited degree and wishing to sit for the exam in Nebraska may begin the exam registration process directly through CLARB without further action from the Nebraska board.
Candidates who do not hold a LAAB-accredited landscape architectural degree and wishing to sit for the exam in Nebraska may be approved to sit for the exam by the Board if he or she:

  • Submits an application with the appropriate filing fee;
  • Has his or her CLARB record transmitted to the Board; and
  • Has the following education and experience:
    • Non-accredited degree in landscape architecture plus one year of landscape architectural experience;
    • NAAB-accredited architectural degree plus one year of landscape architectural experience;
    • ABET-accredited Civil Engineering degree plus one year of landscape architectural experience; or
    • Any bachelor’s degree plus three years of landscape architectural experience.

Once the above has been received and verified, the Board will review the candidate’s request. Once approved, the candidate will be notified and may complete the exam registration process through CLARB.

When an applicant has completed the education and experience requirements for initial licensure, an updated CLARB Council Record verifying such, will need to be submitted to the Board. No additional fees will be required at that time.
