XM395 Accelerated Precision Mortar Initiative (APMI)

Image

The Accelerated Precision Mortar Initiative (APMI) is a response to an Operational Need Statement (ONS) received from theater. Warfighters required a GPS guided 120mm mortar cartridge to rapidly defeat personnel targets with low collateral damage. APMI completed development and was fielded to Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) in March 2011. It is compatible with the Ground mounted and Stryker mounted 120mm mortar systems. Per the 31 October 2014 Memorandum from the AAE regarding Materiel Release of Non-Standard Equipment (NS-E) Assigned to GRF and ACF Missions, APMI is also proceeding with the process for Conditional Material Release.

  • GPS guidance
  • Multi-option fuzing (proximity, point detonation, delay)
  • Programmable by M95 Mortar Fire Control System or M150 MFCS-D or M32 Lightweight Handheld Mortar Ballistic Computer (LHMBC)
