CMDCM (AW/SW) Lee G.  Bethel
Command Master Chief, HSC-21

Command Master Chief Bethel was born and raised near Gadsden, AL where he graduated from Southside High School in 1987 and enlisted in the US Navy in 1988. He is a 2010 graduate of the US Army Sergeants Major Academy (Class 60) and holds both a Baccalaureate Degree from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and a Master’s Degree in Human Resources Development from Webster University.

His previous duty assignments in San Diego, CA include Helicopter Antisubmarine Squadron TEN (HS 10) / Naval Air Maintenance Training Group Detachment (NAMTRAGRUDET) North Island, Helicopter Antisubmarine Squadron Light FOUR SEVEN (HSL 47), Helicopter Combat Support Squadron THREE (HC 3), H-60R/S Fleet Introduction Team, Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron FOUR ONE (HSM 41), and USS Green Bay (LPD 20).

His overseas duty assignments include Helicopter Combat Support Squadron FIVE (HC 5) in Agana, Guam and Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron ONE ONE FIVE (VAW 115) in Atsugi, Japan.

He has deployed onboard the USS Kinkaid (DD 965), USS Doyle (FFG-39), USS Paul F. Foster (DD 964) and numerous deployments with the USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63) and Carrier Air Wing FIVE (CVW 5). His previous Command Master Chief tour included the maiden and sophomore deployments onboard USS Green Bay (LPD 20).

Command Master Chief Bethel’s decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy Achievement Medal (four awards), and various other service and campaign awards.

He assumed duties as Command Master Chief of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron TWO ONE (HSC-21) in July 2013.
