The Adult Male Chemical Dependency Service Unit adheres to the Disease Concept of Addiction and provides a 28 day detoxification, stabilization and psycho-educational program. The Unit staff consists of educated, dedicated, experienced individuals who have a strong desire to help enable each individual receiving services served to become all that he can be through the establishment and maintenance of a chemical-free lifestyle.
The staff of the Adult Male Chemical Dependency Service Unit provides diagnostic evaluation and a short-term (28 days) treatment program for males 18 years of age and above who have a substantial substance abuse/dependence disorder.
The program provides a safe environment, emphasizes personal responsibility, promotes methods of self-control, and increases coping skills which enables the individuals to function appropriately in a normal community environment. Individualized treatment is provided and is based on diagnostic assessments of the individual's needs and addresses the symptoms that require him to be hospitalized. Treatment supports the dignity and self-worth of the individual receiving services and his family/significant other and uses the most effective and efficient methods to facilitate a reduction of symptoms while considering the individuals/family/significant other's resources and cultural and religious views toward different treatment modalities. Treatment helps prepare the individuals/family/significant other to continue in an after-care program when discharged from the Unit.
In order to become eligible for visitation on the Chemical Dependency Unit , approved visitors must
participate in the Disease Concept of Addiction Education Program on Fridays from 1:30 p.m. to
2:30 p.m. Approved visitations are held each Friday from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. following the visitor's
participation in the Disease Concept of Addiction Education Program (DCAEP).
The Disease Concept of Addiction Education Program is an educational module that will assist visitors
(family members or individuals deemed a source of treatment support) of individuals receiving services
to handle the effects of living with recovering substance abusers. Visitors must participate in the DCAEP
in order to become eligible to visit with Individuals Receiving Services. The following procedures must
be taken prior to approved DCAEP participation:
1. After an Individuals Receiving Services completes 2 weeks of programming, he will provide his counselor names and contact information
of two potential visitors.
2. The treatment team will review the names provided to make the determination of the visitors
approval or disapproval for DCAEP
participation.
3. The counselor will notify the Individuals Receiving Services and visitor of eligibility for DCAEP.
4. The counselor will advise the Individuals Receiving Services and approved visitors of the DCAEP rules and regulations.
5. The DCAEP will be offered prior to visitation for approved visitors on Fridays 1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.
6. All visitors will provide proof of identification prior to DCAEP participation (i.e., driver's license or identification card).
7. DCAEP participants may not bring any items to the unit. This includes but is not limited to:
Money
Illegal drugs
Purses
Food and drinks
