7th GOES Users’ Conference
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) will host the 7th GOES Users’
Conference (GUC) in conjunction with the 36th Annual National Weather Association (NWA)
meeting. The GOES Users' Conference will be held Thursday-Friday, October 20-21 at the Wynfrey Hotel* in Birmingham, Alabama. A pre-conference joint GUC/NWA reception will be held, the evening of October 19. The conference officially commences with a joint opening session on Thursday morning, October 20, followed by separate GUC sessions on Thursday afternoon and concluding Friday afternoon October 21.
The GUC is an event designed to bring together operational forecasters, broadcasters, researchers, and scientists interested in better understanding and maximizing the use and impact of satellite data, information and products. The conference will enable NOAA and operational users of current and future satellites to work together and create or strengthen interactions to improve use of current and the next generation of geostationary weather satellites.
The specific goals of the conference are to:
- Continue to improve communication between NOAA and the GOES user communities.
- Inform users on the status of the GOES-R constellation, instruments, and operations.
- Promote interaction between and among providers and users of current and future GOES data, applications and products to enhance development and use of GOES information in operational forecasts.
