2011 Satellite Direct Readout Conference
Welcome to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) 2011 Satellite Direct Readout Conference web site. This year’s conference was held April 4-8, 2011 at the Hilton Miami Airport Hotel* in Miami, Florida.

Prior to the Conference, the NOAA GOES Data Collection System (DCS) conducted a training session on April 02, 2011. A Tsunami Work was carried out on April 03 with several attendees from the Pacific basin.

The conference focused on the current GOES and POES data access, distribution, and preparing users for the upcoming changes to NOAA satellite programs. NOAA presented users with information on APT, HRPT, GVAR, ARGOS DCS, GOES DCS, LRIT, EMWIN, GEONETCast Americas and other NOAA systems. Also, NOAA reviewed the upcoming GOES-R and Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) Programs as well as provided an updated on the reallocation of the 1675 - 1710 MHz frequency band.

The purpose of the conference was to build on our earlier success in 2008 to make the 2011 conference even better. Approximately 200 administrators, managers, and scientists from 32 countries participated in this year’s conference.
