The Baccalaureate Education System Trust (BEST) Prepaid Tuition Plan was terminated on November 30, 2015.

Provided under T.C.A Section 49-7-824, a beneficiary is eligible to remain in the BEST Plan if he or she:

  1. Has been accepted by an institution of higher education,
  2. Is currently enrolled in an institution of higher education,
  3. Or is projected to graduate from high school no later than November 30, 2018.

2016-2017 Unit Payout Value
The Board for the Baccalaureate Education System Trust (BEST) recently convened and approved the 2016- 2017 unit payout value of $90.61 for accounts with beneficiaries that meet the eligibility criteria to remain in the BEST Prepaid Plan. For accounts holders who have not provided documentation confirming their beneficiaries’ eligibility, the unit payout value will remain at $88.48.

Annual Recertification
Under the BEST Plan’s terminated status, account holders need to annually certify their beneficiaries' eligibility to remain in the BEST Plan. Letters have been mailed to all account holders with details regarding the recertification process for the 2016-2017 academic year. The deadline for completing this year’s recertification is September 15, 2016.
