Research Areas
The MS3 Initiative at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory will create a broad and enduring capability for discovery and scalable synthesis of new functional materials that will serve the scientific and programmatic missions of the Department of Energy for decades to come.
The Initiative is organized in four thrust areas that are designed to accomplish this long-term research objective by focusing on functional targets central to imminent business opportunities in three areas: catalysis, soft magnetism, and molecular separation.
- Thrust 1: Nanocomposites
- Thrust 2: Hierarchical Framework Materials
- Thrust 3: Macromolecular Structures
- Thrust 4: Predictive Science of Synthesis.
