Issues

Topic: Worker Wellness

  • Nearly 1 in 5 Americans had a diagnosable mental health condition in the last year, many more are at risk.
  • For almost 20 years, stress/health related issues in the workplace have been on the rise. What's more, these conditions tend to strike during our most productive working years, and they are among our nation's most disabling. The numbers are staggering:
  • 1 million U.S. employees miss work every day due to workplace stress.
  • Depression results in more days of disability than chronic health conditions such as heart disease, hypertension and diabetes.
  • Mood disorders are estimated to cost more than $50 billion a year in lost productivity.

  • Many people who experience mental health concerns suffer in silence.
  • NASA is dedicated to a culture of caring that seeks  to improve the overall wellness of our employees  by breaking this silence.
