Production Search Overview
This section presents monthly production data for oil and natural gas wells. All pages provide options for data to be searched, sorted, and saved to csv (spreadsheet) files. Click on items in the blue menu bar above to navigate the system. Oil volumes are reported in Barrels (1 BBL = 42 U.S. Gallons).
Natural Gas volumes are reported in MCF (1 MCF = 1,000 cubic feet; 1,000 MCF = 1,000,000 cubic feet).
Water volumes are reported in Barrels (1 BBL = 42 U.S. Gallons).
Search Production Data
This form allows users to search for and export monthly production data for all Utah wells. The data includes oil, natural gas and water production volumes, by well, from January 1984 through the current report month (Note: Production reports are due to the division within 45 days following the month of production. Several more weeks may then be necessary for processing and data entry before data appears here.). This page includes an option to generate production decline curves. Cumulative production volumes are also available here for each well. Cumulative volumes cover the life of a well. In cases where wells were drilled before 1984, these volumes will be greater than the sum of the monthly reports, which only go back to January 1984.
NOTE: Using a well's API Number (American Petroleum Institute standard format for numbering) is usually the most acurate way to pinpoint searches for individual wells. All API numbers for Utah wells begin with 43 (the API state code for Utah). The next 3 digits represent the county (see county codes). Digits 6 thru 10 are a sequential number assigned when a new well is permitted for drilling. A search done where "API Well Number is Like 43037" will retrieve all wells in San Juan County.
NOTE: Attempts to use the "Export ALL Results to File" option for large amounts of data (multiple wells for multiple report periods) will often cause "timeout" problems and a failure to export the data. Try restricting your search to a smaller dataset or try using the Database Download Files (Production Data) in the "Data Research Center" as alternative solutions.
Annual Production Summary - Counties
This search page presents annual oil, natural gas, and water production by county from January 1984 through the current report month.
Annual Production Summary - Fields
This search page presents annual oil, natural gas, and water production by field from January 1984 through the current report month. This page also includes an option to generate production decline curves by field.
Annual Production Summary - Operators
This search page presents annual oil, natural gas, and water production by operator from January 1984 through the current report month.
Stripper Wells
This option lists stripper wells from the most current production year.
Stripper Oil Well -- an oil well that has an average daily production of 10 barrels of crude or less per day over a 12 month period. The wells shown here average 10 barrels per day, which is the national standard. The Utah State Tax Commission, however, defines a stripper oil well as one that averages 20 barrels per day.
Stripper Gas Well -- a gas well that has an average daily production of 60 MCF of natural gas or less per day over a 12-month period. The wells shown here are calculated based on a 12-month production period, which is the national standard. The Utah State Tax Commission, however, uses a 90-day period.
