Standard Laboratory

Maintain traceability of the Nebraska’s primary standards of mass and volume to the National Standards located at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). The laboratory verifies the secondary (field) standards of mass and volume used for the enforcement of the Nebraska Weights and Measures Act are correct as prescribed by NIST. Provides calibration services to weights and measures service industry and to private industries dependent upon certified standards used in the production of their goods and services.

Certifications for standards issued by another state laboratory or a National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program laboratory will be accepted in lieu of submitting the secondary standards to the Nebraska Standards Laboratory. Certifications of Standards issued by the Nebraska Standards Laboratory provides traceability to the National Institute of Standards and Technology is valid for a period of one year unless stated otherwise on the certificate. This traceability shall remain in effect for the period stated unless physical damage occurs to the secondary standard. If damage occurs to the secondary standard, the certificate shall no longer be in effect.

Calibration Certificates for Testing Standards

The list of pdf files below contain the calibration certificates issued by the Weights and Measures Standard Laboratory for the standards used by our field inspectors in the testing and certification of weighing and measuring devices. If you need a copy of the certificate for ISO 9000 audit requirements, please look at the test report for your weighing or measuring devices conducted by Weights and Measures, identify the inspector area number, click on the pdf file with that area number and you can print the certificate for the standards.
