Tony Alamo, M.D., Chairman
Born and raised in Nevada, Dr. Tony Alamo currently serves as Chairman of the Nevada Gaming Commission. He was originally appointed to the Commission in May 2008, and was reappointed by Governor Sandoval in 2012. When announcing Dr. Alamo’s appointment as Chair in July 2014, Governor Sandoval stated, "Tony's background and experience chairing several state commissions will ensure a smooth transition to the Gaming Commission and its effective regulation of the gaming industry."
From 2001 – 2007, Dr. Alamo served on the Nevada State Athletic Commission as a member and later as its chair, making him the first person in Nevada history to chair both the Athletic Commission and the Gaming Commission. He also served as a licensed ringside physician, and was the Chairman of the Athletic Commission’s Medical Advisory Board in 2000.
He earned his undergraduate degree in chemistry from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and his medical degree from the University of Southern California School of Medicine. After completing his residency at Los Angeles County-USC General and Huntington Hospitals, Dr. Alamo returned to Las Vegas and founded the Alamo Medical Clinic in 1994. More than twenty years later, he continues to own and operate the primary care clinic, located in the City of Henderson, which is now a multi-physician group.
Dr. Alamo is an Organizer and Director of the Bank of George, which is a community Bank chartered by the FDIC in 2007. He served as Chief of Staff at Sunrise Hospital and Children’s Medical Center from 2002 – 2004, as well as Chief of Staff at San Martin St. Rose Hospital from 2006 – 2009.
With specialized training in Tactical Trauma/Medicine, Dr. Alamo has volunteered as a Tactical Physician for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD)-SWAT Bureau for over 14 years. In April 2006, following a hostage barricade situation, he was the first civilian awarded the “Medal of Unit Valor” for “Valorous Conduct”. Previously, the LVMPD had awarded the prestigious honor only to commissioned police officers.
An accomplished pilot, Dr. Alamo holds a Commercial Pilot Multi-Engine Instrument Rating. He lives in the City of Henderson with his family.
John T. Moran, Jr.
John T. Moran, Jr. is currently a member of the Nevada Gaming Commission. He was originally appointed to the Commission in 2004 by Governor Kenny Guinn. He was subsequently reappointed by Governor Jim Gibbons and Governor Brian Sandoval.
Prior to his tenure on the Nevada Gaming Commission, Moran also previously served on both the Colorado River Commission as well as the Nevada Board of Wildlife Commissioners. Governor Bob Miller appointed Moran to the Colorado River Commission in 1989. During his time on the Commission, Moran served as both member and Chairman. In 2000, Moran was appointed to the Nevada Board of Wildlife Commissioners by Governor Guinn and served as a member and Chairman until 2004.
Moran comes from a long-standing Nevada family affiliated with law enforcement. He is the son of the late Clark County Sheriff John Moran, Sr. Moran served with the Clark County Sheriff’s department as a deputy sheriff beginning in 1969. He is a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. In 2002, Moran was appointed by the Nevada Supreme Court as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Nevada Law Foundation, for which he was also the Chairman. He also was a founding board member of WestCare Foundation at its early beginnings in Nevada.
Moran has been a member of the American Bar Association, the Clark County Bar Association, the National Trial Lawyers Association, and the International Association of Gaming Regulators. He was enrolled to practice law before the State Gaming Control Board and Nevada Gaming Commission in 1976. He has also, in the past, served as an appointee to the City of Las Vegas Beautification Committee and Civil Service Board of Trustees. Moran is a former member of the Nevada State Bar Fee Dispute Committee, a former Lawyer Representative to the United States Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals for the State of Nevada and a former member of the Justice Court Selection Panel. He is licensed to practice law in Nevada and before the United States Federal Court and the United States Court of Appeals.
Moran graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 1971. He is a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He earned his Juris Doctorate degree from Loyola University School of Law, in Los Angeles. He was admitted to practice law in Nevada in 1975. He is the founding senior member of the Moran Law Firm.
Randolph Townsend
Randolph Townsend currently serves as a member of the Nevada Gaming Commission. Prior to his tenure on the Commission, Mr. Townsend served more than 28 years in the Nevada Senate, where he held chair-level roles in committees and activities focused on child care, commerce, labor and taxation. He also was a member of committees focused on government affairs, energy/infrastructure/transportation, utility oversight, and production and use of energy, among other legislative councils.
Mr. Townsend has served on the joint standing Committee on Health Care and the Senate Committee on Human Resources. Townsend secured significant funding for the state’s mental health services and to improve insurance coverage for people with severe mental illness. In 2002, President George W. Bush appointed Townsend to the New Freedom Commission on Mental Health. He also chaired the Nevada Subcomittee to Study Mental Health Issues. In 2003, he introduced a bill creating the Nevada Mental Health Plan Implementation Commission and was elected its chairman.
In business, Townsend spent 10 years with the public relations firm DRGM, where he worked with world-class gaming establishments and national banking clients. He was a general manager at Lexus of Reno for six years and was a founding member of Commercial Bank of Nevada. In addition, he has taught at the University of Nevada, Reno as an adjunct faculty member.
Mr. Townsend attended San Francisco State University and holds a bachelor’s and Master of Education degrees from the University of Nevada, Reno.
Philip M. Pro
Following his retirement after nearly 35 years of service on the United States District Court for the District of Nevada, Judge Philip M. Pro was appointed to the Nevada Gaming Commission by Governor Brian Sandoval in December 2015.
Coming to Nevada immediately after graduation from law school in 1972, Pro has dedicated much of his legal career to public service. In 1980, he was appointed United States Magistrate Judge for the District of Nevada, where he served until his appointment as a United States District Judge by President Ronald Reagan in 1987. Pro previously served as a Deputy Public Defender, and Assistant United States Attorney in Las Vegas, and as a Deputy Attorney General for the Nevada Gaming Division, and in private law practice in Reno.
During his tenure on the federal bench, Pro was actively involved in national and circuit court governance, and served as Chief Judge for the District of Nevada from 2002 to 2007. He was appointed by Chief Justice Rehnquist as Chair of the Magistrate Judges Committee of the United States Judicial Conference from 1993 to 1998, and by Chief Justice Roberts to the Board of the Federal Judicial Center from 2007 to 2011. He also is a founding member of the Howard D. McKibben Nevada American Inn of Court, serving as its President from 1988 to 1990.
Since 1998, Pro has participated in over three dozen international “Rule of Law” programs with judiciaries in over 20 countries in Central and Eastern Europe, Central Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and South America on behalf of the United States Departments of State, Justice, and Commerce, the United Nations, the Council of Europe, and the American Bar Association. Throughout his career, Pro also has been actively involved locally and nationally in law related education programs including We the People…the Citizen and Constitution, and the State Bar of Nevada’s Law Related Education Consortium.
Pro received his law degree from Golden Gate University School of Law in 1972, and his Master of Laws in Judicial Studies from Duke University School of Law in 2014. He served as a member of the Advisory Board for the founding of the William S. Boyd School of Law at UNLV, and serves also as a member of the Advisory Board of Boyd’s Saltman Center for Conflict Resolution. Pro currently provides arbitration, mediation and special master services through JAMS, the largest provider of ADR services in the United States, and is a member of the adjunct faculty at Boyd Law School.
Deborah J. Fuetsch
A fourth generation Nevadan, Fuetsch was appointed to the Nevada Gaming Commission by Governor Brian Sandoval in 2016. Born and raised in Reno, she has stayed true to her roots making northern Nevada her home. Fuetsch has over 24 years of banking experience, currently serving as Senior Vice President in Wells Fargo Bank’s Nevada Middle Market Banking Group. During her banking tenure, Fuetsch has managed commercial relationships for a diverse group of industries including gaming manufacturing, commercial construction and infrastructure, manufacturing, distribution and mining. Through her 20+ years in the financial sector, Fuetsch has gained a deep understanding of regulatory matters that overlap both the banking and gaming industries.
Fuetsch began her banking career in the Management Training Program of First Interstate Bank in 1989, moving through the retail branch system and the Business Banking Group. Taking a break from the financial sector, she joined Bayer, Brown, Bauserman Advertising in 1995, focusing on new business development. In 1999, she transitioned back to banking as a member of the start-up team of First Independent Bank, as Vice President of Commercial Lending. And in 2000, returned to First Interstate’s post-merger business entity, Wells Fargo Bank.
Fuetsch is a graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno, earning her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. At Nevada, she was a member of the women’s tennis team and Kappa Alpha Theta fraternity. Fuetsch is dedicated to her community, volunteering for a number of non-profit organizations over the past 20+ years. Primarily focused on improving the lives of youth and families, she has served on the boards of The Children’s Cabinet, the Nevada Statewide Grants Management Unit for Family Resource Centers, Athletic Association of the University of Nevada, Reno, Nevada Women’s Fund, The First Tee of Northern Nevada and the College of Business Administration Alumni Association for the University of Nevada, Reno, amongst others.
