Partner Organizations and Programs
APTA
The American Public Transportation Association (APTA) is an international organization that leads in advocating public transportation innovation through information sharing to the bus, rapid transit, commuter rail, planning, design, construction, finance, and operations communities.
AMPO
The Association of Metropolitan Planning Organizations (AMPO) is a non-profit organization established in 1994 providing technical assistance and training, conferences and workshops, information outreach, research, and a transportation policy development and coalition-building forum to metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs) nationwide.
AASHTO
The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) represents the highway and national transportation departments (including District of Columbia and Puerto Rico) by providing programs and services to foster the development, operation, and maintenance of an integrated national transportation system.

NARC
The National Association of Regional Councils (NARC) serves the interests of regional councils and MPOs nationwide as a non-profit organization by providing training and technical assistance that advocates regional coordination with Federal and State governments and the involvement of regional communities to work towards achieving excellence in their region.
National ITS Architecture
The National ITS Architecture provides a common framework for planning, defining, and integrating intelligent transportation systems. It is a mature product that reflects the contributions of a broad cross-section of the ITS community (transportation practitioners, systems engineers, system developers, technology specialists, consultants, etc.).
NTOC
The National Transportation Operations Coalition (NTOC) serves as an important foundation for institutionalizing management and operations in the transportation industry. This alliance of national associations, practitioners and private sector groups represent the collective interests of stakeholders at State, local and regional levels who have a wide range of experience in operations, planning, and public safety.
ITE
The Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) is an international educational and scientific association of traffic engineers, transportation planners, and other professionals engaged in forums to develop standards and recommended practices, informational reports, handbooks, conferences, sessions for meetings, seminars, issue briefings, award programs, ITE position statements, and newsletters.
The second Strategic Highway Research Program (SHRP 2) was authorized by Congress to address some of the most pressing needs related to the nation’s highway system including congestion stemming both from inadequate physical capacity and from events that reduce the effective capacity of a highway facility. SHRP 2 research in the areas of reliability and capacity are particularly relevant to the U.S. DOT planning for operations program area.

TRB
