International Collaboration on ITS Research is the Department’s effort to foster cooperative international research on ITS. The vision in conducting coordinated research is to increase the value of each region’s research by creating a joint framework for field operational tests and evaluation tools, collaborating on cooperative vehicle safety applications, and working to internationally harmonize standards. The purpose is also to support and accelerate the deployment and adoption of connected vehicle systems by facilitating a global marketplace through harmonization of standards.
