Family and child advocacy

The secretary of defense is required by law to coordinate with civilian child welfare agencies to obtain information of allegations of child abuse and neglect involving children in military families.

The DoD, in accordance with Section 1787 of Title 10, U.S. Code, established the Family Advocacy Program to address prevention of and response to child abuse and neglect involving children in military families.
