- Guam has no conventional energy resources and relies on petroleum products shipped in by tanker to meet almost all its energy needs.
- As of late 2015, Guam Power Authority's surcharge for generator fuels was about 10 cents per kilowatthour, reflecting the cost of imported petroleum fuels.
- Guam's first commercial solar farm, the 25.6-megawatt Dandan facility, was completed in October 2015, and the U.S. Navy has agreed to lease sites where 40 more solar megawatts could be installed.
- In August 2015, an explosion and fire destroyed two of the Guam Power Authority's (GPA) primary baseload generators. Until the lost capacity can be repaired or replaced, the GPA is leasing high-efficiency diesel generators.
- Guam allows net metering, and an increasing number of customers are installing solar photovoltaic panels. As of early 2016, nearly 9 megawatts of distributed solar power was connected to Guam's grid.
