The department processes 3.5 million vehicle title documents annually, registers nine million vehicles annually, issues license plates and renewal stickers, licenses vehicle dealers and maintains vehicle records.
It provides Illinois vehicle owners with the most secure title document in the nation. It also administers compliance with the Illinois mandatory auto insurance law and maintains a toll-free hotline for citizens.
