Internet Safety/Protecting Kids from On-line Predators – According to the “Highlights of the Youth Internet Safety Survey,” conducted by the Department of Justice, 1 in 5 children aged 10-17 receives unwanted sexual solicitations online. DES personnel will provide tips on how to keep your children safe.
Identity Theft – This is the #1 crime reported to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and has a negative impact on just about everyone: individuals pay an average of $1,400 in out-of-pocket expenses; businesses lose between $40,000-$92,000 per name on fraudulent charges; and the FBI spends an average of $20,000 per financial investigation according to a 2002 Government Accounting Office study. The Role of Digital Evidence in Criminal Investigations (for law enforcement agencies only) - In today’s world, nearly every criminal investigation involves digital evidence.
