Speakers Bureau

Welcome to the Digital Evidence Section's (DES) Speakers Bureau. The FBI's Operational Technology Division (OTD) is providing this service to the law enforcement community and the general public to increase their understanding about the technology surrounding digital evidence and the science of digital forensics.

The OTD workforce supports the FBI's investigative and intelligence gathering mission by supplying specialized services and technical expertise. In addition, they conduct research and development projects aimed at enhancing the FBI's forensics services pertaining to the collection, processing and exploitation of computer, audio, and visual media. The DES Speakers Bureau is composed of OTD and affiliated personnel from three of its major units, which include the—

  • Computer Analysis Response Team (CART) Unit – CART is the FBI's elite computer forensics program. Their mission is to analyze digital evidence in support of the FBI's Field Divisions
  • Forensic Audio/Video & Image Analysis Unit (FAVIAU) – This unit conducts examinations in the digital and multimedia evidence sub disciplines of forensic audio, video analysis, and image analysis forensics in support of the FBI's investigative programs
  • Regional Computer Forensics Laboratory (RCFL) Unit – The RCFL Program is a national network of 14 FBI-sponsored, full-service digital forensics laboratories and training centers. FBI Director Robert S. Mueller III recently announced the addition of two new host sites in Los Angeles, California and Albuquerque, New Mexico. Representatives from these offices are available to meet with law enforcement agencies that are interested in joining the RCFL Program in these cities. Please fill out the Speakers Request form and indicate your interest in receiving a briefing about the RCFL Program and the many benefits of participation. An Each RCFL is devoted to the examination of digital evidence in support of criminal investigations, and is available to local, state, and federal law enforcement personnel in each laboratory's designated service area.
