Communications Tools - External

Job Corps ARRA Outreach Toolkit

The Job Corps ARRA Toolkit was created to assist Job Corps staff members in communicating Job Corps' Recovery Act goals to potential students and outside audiences like employers and community organizations. The toolkit includes one-pagers, PowerPoint presentations, template letters, and logos. These pieces can be downloaded for electronic use or for printing.

Outreach and Admissions One-Pager - The Outreach and Admissions One-Pager focuses on Job Corps' green training opportunities in Advanced Manufacturing, Automotive and Machine Repair, and Construction.

Business Community Liaison One-Pager - The Business Community Liaison One-Pager was designed to support Job Corps staff members responsible for community relations. The piece assists in educating organizations and businesses about Job Corps' green training opportunities.

Presentation Materials - Job Corps' ARRA PowerPoint templates present a multimedia overview of Job Corps, its green training opportunities, and its many ARRA-funded projects. Two separate presentations were made available through the Toolkit - one for Outreach and Admissions staff (targeted at audiences such as potential students and school counselors) and one for Career Transition Services providers and Business Community Liaisons (targeted at employers and community organizations).

Template Letters - Created to assist Job Corps staff members in their communication efforts with community and green organizations, school counselors, and employers, these template letters contain basic information about Job Corps and the benefits it can offer young adults.

Employer Brochure - Targeted to employers and businesses, the ARRA Employer Brochure highlights the benefits of hiring a Job Corps graduate and focuses on the program's green career technical training elements.

Career Technical Training Sheets

Career Technical Training (CTT) sheets contain specific information about each Job Corps career technical training area, such as what students are expected to learn, certifications available, duration of training, earning potential, and age requirements. The sheets are designed to give Outreach and Admissions advisors and center staff members a tool to help potential or new students select the training area that best matches their interests and skills.

Six CTT sheets were created for Job Corps' new ARRA-funded green career training areas: Electronic Health Record Specialist, Solar Photovoltaic and Thermal System Installer, Weatherization Technician, Smart Meter Technician, Overhead Line Construction, and Underground Residential Distribution. In addition, green training language was added to each existing CTT sheet in the Construction, Advanced Manufacturing, and Automotive and Machine Repair career pathways to inform students of the new credentials available in those particular areas.

Television Advertisements

As part of Job Corps' efforts to inform potential students and external audiences about the new training opportunities available, it developed television ads focused on green training.
