Dot Zukor, PhD, Associate Director of Earth Sciences, NASA Goddard Space Flight Center

We are individuals from across the Center. Our backgrounds and experience may be diverse, but we are all dedicated to improving ourselves and the Center in the following ways:
  • develop a network of trust;
  • raise our own awareness of the differences and similarities among us all;
  • share knowledge, information, and insights from our different perspectives;
  • support, coach, and mentor each other;
  • improve our communication skills in all of our conversations and spread that to the Goddard community;
  • implement and demonstrate our leadership values when coaching and communicating with our employees and teammates.
The Diversity and Civility Creative Learning Group (CLG) is made possible by Code 600. Dr. Dorothy Zukor, Associate Director for Earth Sciences for Institutional Planning and Development, and Joan Wangler, ICF Master Certified Coach, facilitate and nurture the CLG. Members of the CLG are from all directorates, all ages, and all backgrounds. Contact Joan Wangler for more information at jwangler@edinassociates.com.

We've even been recognized by the agency's Office of Diversity and Equal Opportunity. NASA's Administrator, Charlie Bolden, recently released a message highlighting their new publication, Promising Practices for Equal Opportunity, Diversity, and Inclusion. The Goddard Civility Collaborative is among the groups listed as cultivating excellence, teamwork and innovation at NASA.

 How we started

Members of the original CLG

Early members of the CLG: Howard Kea, Kevin Miller, Carolyn Casey, Ron Brade, Sandra Cauffman, Joan Wangler, Helen Sullivan, Otilia Rodriguez-Alvarez, Nichole Richmond, and Terri Yancy.

The CLG can be traced back to 2000. Notable figures around GSFC have been part of the CLG at one time or another. Pictured at right are some of the early members of the CLG.
