Traffic and air pollution create quality of life concerns among Southern California residents. Millions of vehicles use southland freeways and surface streets daily, resulting in frequent gridlock.Congestion increases auto and truck emissions, which have a direct impact on the health of county residents.
SANBAG is serious about reducing traffic congestion and improving air quality and has created partnerships with public and private agencies to develop solutions with Southern California's future in mind.
A number of programs are in place to encourage the use of public transit, ridesharing, alternative fuels, advanced traveler information services, Freeway Service Patrol and call boxes for freeway emergencies.
